Cougar Scholastic Excellence Fund (CSEF)
The Cougar Scholastic Excellence Fund (CSEF) was founded and continues to exist for the sole purpose of helping HMBHS to fund a competitive selection of elective courses to prepare students for both college and career. The CSEF fund has contributed almost $200,000 in four years resulting in 12 elective sections overall that otherwise would not have been available to our students. Our goal beginning with the 2012-13 school year is to fund six elective sections per year. At $20,000 per section, that amounts to $120,000 per year. While a significant amount of money, we've already raised $35,000 towards that goal thanks to the generosity of families who made a multiple year commitment last year.
In anticipation of another successful CSEF year, teachers are already exploring elective classes for next fall. Possible classes include Animation (separate from Web Design), AG Finance/ Business Management, AG Practices, AP Physics, Guitar Making (sponsored by Taylor Guitars), AP Environmental Science, Music Appreciation, College Prep Math, AP Art History, and Journalism. None of these classes will become a reality without parent/private funding.
Help make the 2012 CSEF drive a success! We are asking each family to donate $500 or more per year for the next two years. The more families that donate, the less the burden for all. If your budget won’t allow for $500, please consider $250 or at least $100.
