About PAC
PAC is a non-profit parent organization dedicated to supporting academics and enrichment at Half Moon Bay High School (HMBHS). PAC was established by a group of parents committed to enhance the academic experience of students at HMBHS. Since that time, with funding of public schools declining, PAC's role at HMBHS has become even more critical. We exist to provide needed support for programs and services that have traditionally been funded in public schools, but are no longer. Today, PAC works not just to enhance student experience, but to sustain academic and enrichment opportunities available to HMBHS students. We do this because we want more than a good education for our students. We want them to have access to an excellent education. And an excellent public education isn't free anymore.
PAC has had a big impact on HMBHS in the past and will continue to do so this year. PAC funds will pay for or contribute towards the following during the 2011-2012 school year:
- Annual School Loop subscription
- Fair share contributions to each academic department to support student learning through enrichment opportunities and/or additional classroom supplies
- After school math tutoring
- Resources for the library
- Annual subscription to Turnitin.com
- Extended library hours/homework club
- Scholarships for graduating seniors
- Professional development for faculty to enhance classroom experiences for students
- Campus beautification to generate a sense of school pride and spirit
- Outdoor graduation
- Student recognition
- Hospitality for various school events including Freshman Orientation, Back to School Night, 8th Grade Orientation, and Scholarship Night
We hope to be able to keep up this kind of support for many years to come!
