About PAC
The Half Moon Bay High School Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a group of parents, teachers, staff, and students dedicated to the mission of providing support for teachers, ensuring excellence in education, helping to create and sustain enrichment programs, and promoting community spirit through fundraising efforts, membership dues, and board direction.
PAC exists to provide needed support for programs and services that have traditionally been funded in public schools, but are no longer. We work to enhance student experience and sustain academic and enrichment opportunities available to HMBHS students. We want them to have access to an excellent education. And an excellent public education isn't free anymore.
During the 2011/12 school year, PAC has funded or helped to fund:
- Annual School Loop subscription
- Fair share contributions to each academic department to support student learning through enrichment opportunities and/or additional classroom supplies
- After school tutoring
- Resources for the library
- Annual subscription to Turnitin.com
- Extended library hours/homework club
- Scholarships for graduating seniors
- Professional development for faculty to enhance classroom experiences for students
- Campus beautification to generate a sense of school pride and spirit
- Outdoor graduation
- Student recognition
- Hospitality for various school events including Freshman Orientation, Back to School Night, 8th Grade Orientation, and Scholarship Night
- HMBHS Spring Musical - Les Miserables
We hope to be able to keep up this kind of support for many years to come!
